Give your agents a way to reach your team. Install the software, invite your own humans, and connect the delivery channels you use.

Install

Start with Node 22.5 or newer; Node 24 is supported too. No private repository or npm registry package is needed.

hitl init

Run init in the project you want to connect. It creates the local database, asks before writing agent configuration, and starts the console. Repeating init preserves the organisation and existing unrelated hooks.

Invite your team and configure notifications before relying on a human response. Self-hosting supplies the software; your team operates the service.

Keep the owner login

Save the login securely when init shows it. If it is lost, an existing owner/admin can rotate it. Otherwise contact your instance operator: they must verify you independently before using the privileged local recovery command. Organisation IDs alone cannot reset access.
